InterpreterPeerReviews

The Interpreter: A Journal of LDS Faith and Scholarship (aka, https://journal.interpreterfoundation.org/journal/, fka mormoninterpreter.com) is an online/print journal that publishes purportedly peer-reviewed articles. Many of the articles are useful, but often the "Interpreters" engage in peer approval instead of peer review to enforce their own orthodoxy. Here I offer my peer reviews of these articles.

Mark Twain on experts

“I am personally acquainted with hundreds of journalists, and the opinion of the majority of them would not be worth tuppence in private, but when they speak in print it is the newspaper that is talking (the pygmy scribe is not visible) and then their utterances shake the community like the thunders of prophecy.” Mark Twain March 31, 1873

Reminder to Interpreter readers

Prof. Feynman@ProfFeynman You learn nothing from life if you think you're right all the time.

Daniel Kahneman on changing minds

“Most people hate changing their minds, but I like to change my mind. It means I’ve learned something.” To a fellow author: "Do you have any idea how lucky you are to have thousands of people who can tell you you’re wrong?” “I have no sunk costs,” Kahneman loved to say. He always wanted the evidence, not the amount of prior effort or commitment, to determine his beliefs and actions.
